The ORVA board will model and maintain a culture of integrity that demonstrates a mindfulness of the wellbeing of everyone in attitudes, communications, choices and actions that are respectful, self-controlled, and compassionate.  
Effective School Boards

  • Have strong shared beliefs and values about students’ ability to learn and of the system and its ability to teach all children at high levels.

  • Have a collaborative relationship with staff and the community.
  • Are data-savvy.
  • Align and sustain resources to meet district goals.
  • Lead as a united team with the Executive Director.
  • Take part in team development and training.

    ORVA Mission and Vision statement updated in 2019.
    The committee consisted of staff from all curricular and support teams, admin, and the ORVA school  Board. 

    Mission Statement:  
    • “The Oregon Virtual Academy (ORVA) is a public, online charter school whose mission is to provide a safe, supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment which fosters growth and learning.”

    Vision Statement:  
    • “At Oregon Virtual Academy our primary aim is to create an effective, personalized, innovative learning environment for each student. 

    • We meet the needs of all students by providing opportunities to be successful with their learning and growth. Our school community supports students in becoming independent, successful individuals, preparing them for the next step in their educational and life journeys."
